Cesca Chair
Breuer took a revolutionary approach to modern seating typologies beyond traditional four-legged chair construction, evidenced in this cantilevered chair. While Breuer is generally credited with the invention of modern tubular furniture, the Dutch architect Mart Stam is acknowledged as having designed the first cantilevered chair in 1926. When the B32 chair was re-launched by Knoll in 1962, it was renamed Cesca after Breuer’s adopted daughter.
